Terry 's Team in Training II: Fund-raising for a cure continues

****************************************
I am preparing for my second Team In Training endurance event to raise money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I will be walking the half marathon - that's 13.1 miles - in honor of my team's patient hero Lindsey P. and in memory of my Uncle, Ron Grafe who passed away nearly 2 years ago from complications from multiple myeloma. My fund raising goal for this event is $2880.00.

A Few Facts to Know:

*Every five minutes, someone in the United States learns that he or she has leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's Disease or myeloma - more than 300 people a day.

*Every nine minutes, another child or adult is expected to die from leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma.

*The leukemia death rate for children in the United States has declined 61% over the past 3 decades. Despite this decline, leukemia causes more deaths than any other disease among chldren under age 15.

*58% of all blood-related cancers are lymphomas. Hodgkin's Disease is a specialized form of lymphoma.

*The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society offers the most comprehensive array of services to patients and their families touched by blood-cancers.

The above starred facts have been taken directly from The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's "Leukemia Lymphoma Myeloma Facts 2001".

As long as there is a need and as long as I am able, I will continue to participate in endurance events to raise funding for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's efforts and to promote awareness for the services they provide.
